The boys who showed her attention did so with strings attached as well, and Chrissy accepted it, because for her, love always came with conditions. When she set out for Los Angeles, it was the first time she had been away from her family and from Florida. And for years, she got barely an audition. So how does a woman with the deck stacked against her radiate such love, beauty and joy? This too is at the heart of This is Me. With chapters that alternate from autobiographical to instructional, Chrissy offers practical applications of her hard-won insights in a series of Bee Mindful interstitials. There she invites you to embrace gratitude in Say Thank You or to be honest with your partner and yourself in The Shrouded Supreme. Blending love and experience, Chrissy encourages us all to claim our rightful place in a world that may be trying to knock us down, find our own unique gifts, and pursue our dreams....

This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today Reviews
I loved, loved, LOVED this book. It's hopeful and lighthearted. It's brutal and hard-hitting. It's one of those books that you want to read in one sitting, even if you have to get up early tomorrow and it's midnight. It's one of those books you pick up when you need to be inspired. It's so many things, but it's foremost honest.
Metz details her traumatic early years, her unfulfilling years as an agent in Hollywood, and her incredible rise to stardom in such a sincere way that it makes you hopefu ...more
So, I fricken' love This is Us. It's my favorite thing that's been on TV in a long time. So I was always going to be interested in picking up Chrissy Metz's book. But I was so surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It was funny, witty, and totally page-turny. I loved the combination of both personal memoir and creative/life advice that were interspersed throughout. It was both raw, and unflinching in its relatability, while at the same time being inspiring and hopeful. Basically, I want to I ...more

Her scrapping and scraping to get where she is today yet not fully believing that she really deserves it! But she does, and I do too! We are all on a journey of self love! She put it all into words beautifully! 💕 Chrissy Metz! I hope to be able to tell you in person how much your book means to me! Thank you for sharing your story!

First I’m going to start this off by saying I’m a huge fan of This Is Us. I think it’s such a smart, fresh TV show with realistic characters. So, when I saw an audiobook narrated by one of the stars of the show, I had to listen. I’m so glad I did.
Chrissy Metz talks like she’s your close friend who is filling you in on the latest happenings in her llife. I loved listening to her. She quickly became a close friend as I listened for hours. Her voice makes for a wonderful easy listening experience.
Friend had received this memoir as gift from a co-worker but friend had no interest so she gave it to me. I've watched most of season one of This Is Us but it felt like so much of a tearjerker that I gave it up. However, Metz's story renewed my interest in the show. Metz's strongest story is that of her childhood, and while I understand that she doesn't want to tell her mother's story, a lot of what she relays about her childhood had me very interested how a mother justifies her actions to allow ...more
I knew that Chrissy had 81 cents in her bank account when she landed the role of Kate, but I knew nothing about her back story. And what a doozy it was! I hate to use the cliche "Rags to Riches" line, because she busted her butt to get where she is today. Hers is a story of perseverance and hope, and I am so glad she shared it.
It's hard sometimes for people writing autobiographies to not get preachy -- everyone does it, because I think it's our instinct to try to make sense of our lives. And so ...more
I want to be friends with the author! I love her as an actress and she sure knows how to inspire a person in her writing. Many inspirational quotes of her own and others, with her own touch. I am so glad she became Kate because she was perfectly cast for the role!
