The Guilty Ones (DI Jackman & DS Evans #4) Reviews
Joy Ellis is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. The speed at which her books are published is phenomenal, as is her writing.
There is just something I really like about all Joy's books, I love the stories, the settings, the characters. I really want to sit and not move once I have started one of these books. It's like something takes over me.
This is the 4th book in the JACKMAN & EVANS series, a series i'm really enjoying. I also love Joys other series of books featuring NIKKI GALENA. ...more

A Cracker of a Crime Book
I so enjoyed the previous books about D I Rowan Jackman and DS Marie. I like the partnership. The stories are intriguing and fast pacing. They are full of normal human frailties and strengths but great stories. The murderer is usually very intelligent, cunning and extremely nasty. He always appears to be ahead of the police despite all the clever technology. Together with detectives who have excellent crime results. Slowly the facts come to light. I look forward to the n ...more
Joy Ellis has quickly become one of my favorite, go to authors. I love the characters, plot, "those dastardly villains!" even the setting of The Fens gives me the shivers. This wasn't my favorite by Ms. Ellis, but then I've only read 3 of her books so far. I just didn't like the cliffhanger ending. Cliffhanger endings for me, usually mean that by the time the killer shows up again I've read so many other books that I've completely lost the plot. That's just me though. My thanks to Joffe and Netg ...more
Probably one of the darkest physiologic mysteries I've ever read.
Yes Jackman' s sister-in-law did commit suicide. But wasn't that a shadow of a man behind her. That brief glimpse on film leads Jackman in search of a killer, like they have never seen before. Yet out of this investigation comes the knowledge to hold and appreciate what you hold dear. A must-read for real mystery fans. Joy Ellis holds you spellbound.
Another great page turner
The latest in this series of novels has surpassed the rest. Although it can be read as a stand alone, I personally prefer reading them in order to follow the development of the characters . This novel tackles a number of issues with sympathy however leaving the reader in no doubt that justice must be served irrespective of circumstances. I discovered Joy Ellis books by accident but am so glad that I did.
Detecting takes an extremely personal turn when DI Rowan Jackman’s sister-in-law goes to London and throws herself into the river. No one understands, including Jackman, because she was seemingly happy and had two beloved children. Jackman and his partner, DC Marie Evans, start to dig into the sister-in-law’s past, and Jackman realizes he knows next to nothing about her. Then another woman from a neighboring village dies in similar circumstances and the more Jackman and his team dig, they find a ...more
