An Imperfect Heart

The heart is exquisite.Youll never hear anyone wax poetic over an organ quite like they do the heart. When youre lost in the world? Follow your heart. When your love for someone is unwavering, unparalleled and unprecedented? You give them your heart. As a lead pediatric cardiac surgeon, I knew better than anyone that the heart is equally as powerful as it is delicate. The heart giveth just as easily as it taketh away. And until the day Kelly Potter darkened my doorway that was all just part of the job.She rolled in like a slow evening storm, fierce and beautiful, fighting for the life of her unborn child. It should have been business as usual.I was a doctor. Her child the patient. But Kelly was more. She was the one who got away.I wouldnt make the same mistake twice. It didnt matter what the rules were. For once, I was listening to my heart....

Well, what an emotional rollercoaster that was! Amie's writing never fails to bring out the feels for me and this one was full on in the feels department.

An Imperfect Heart had a few issues in it that I connected to on a personal level, which I both loved and found difficult. It is also why I am finding it hard to review and rate, I think most mothers will feel a connection to this story and even more so if you have had a child with additional needs or health probl

This has been one of the best second chance stories I've ever gotten to read. It was fast paced, intriguing, heartfelt and an all around amazing story. Amie continues to put out words that you can relate to but also pull your heart out and put it back in perfectly.

    Four stars.

Wow. What a beautiful, beautiful story! A heartfelt and emotional almost-second-chance-romance that had me absolutely captivated as we dive into the story of a pregnant mother desperate to save her baby and the only man who can help her – the one who got away.

This book loosely fits in with Amie Knight’s Heart series (See Through Heart and A Steel Heart), with some crossover characters (both the hero and the heroine are friends with characters in previous books), but this book can abso

“Me and baby girl. We’re a team. And we’re gonna do this thing. With or without you, but I hope it’s with you because I hear you’re good and I need someone who can deliver a miracle.”

Oh, I love Anthony! He’s a kind man with a huge heart, and of course he agrees to help Kelly. But more than just the surgery, he sets her up with somewhere to stay, and pushes his way into her life, determined to support her through her pregnancy and the difficulties to come. And while he plans to do all he can to save her baby’s life, he has more in mind.

Kelly was back. Only she was different and so was I, and for fuck’s sake, I was supposed to save her baby’s life. She was just another patient’s mother, or at least that’s what I told myself. But I knew better; she was the one who got away. The one I’d let get away. It had been a mistake.

OMG, this is such a beautiful romance! I always have a soft spot for a hero that can fall for a pregnant woman and openly accept another man’s baby into his life, and I could not help but fall completely in love with Anthony. The love story is a slow build as he and Kelly reconnect, but they very quickly become friends, and as they become an integral part of each other’s lives, those feelings from all those years ago come roaring back.

I should have known it was going to happen. After all, she’d stolen my heart in just one night years ago. It shouldn’t have been a surprise, her ability to totally obliterate my soul. And she had, a little at a time, day by day, until she owned me.

The chemistry between these two is fantastic and I loved watching them fall for each other. But they have a long road ahead of them, and a lot of pain and questions from the past that they need to deal with in order to get their HEA.

“I love you and because I love her … it wouldn’t be just her heart and your heart on that table, it would be my heart, too.”

Emotions are running high and the feels are intense as they figure it all, but I loved Kelly and Anthony’s journey. I read with a smile on my face, revelling in every moment of them finding their way back to each other and then finding their way forward. It’s beautifully sweet with a nice amount of steam, and the love story had me in a world of swoon.

There is drama, of course, but there is no stupid behaviour by either character, it’s more that we get to see them reacting to their circumstances and working their way through it together, and it was so beautiful to watch. There are fantastic side characters who bring so much to the story. And then there’s a beautiful epilogue which finishes it all off beautifully, providing closure and a blissfully happy ending that left me hugging my kindle in glee.

I loved this one, and am eagerly looking forward to whatever this author has coming next.

AN IMPERFECT HEART is the story of a mother's love and how far she will go to save the life of her unborn baby girl. Her sick baby girl that will be born with a serious heart problem. Kelly Potter remembers the day her life would change forever. The doctor said, “The test came back positive. You're pregnant.”

Kelly played drums in a traveling band that never had made it big. But she was living her dream, just never knowing where she would be sleeping each night. She loved to play her drums, and

‘My memories of her were laced with lust, heat, laughter and something on the cusp of young love. She remembered the ending. Not the beginning or all the good stuff in between. It was my fault.’

Oh what a beautiful, beautiful story. If you’re a Mum, you’ll connect to this story in every way as it highlights the selflessness, the utter devotion and unwavering love a mother feels for her child. If you’re a lover of romance and swoon, this book will fill every piece of your romantic heart.
